Did you happen to know that Pharmaceutical company’s spends more for advertising in the US than R&D?

How about we get like almost every other country in the world, and ban prescription drug advertising, that would cut down on their costs dramatically, and make drugs cheaper for everyone.

As a European living in the United States, I think that is because the people suffering by far the most in the US are so ill-informed about other Western democracies and so brain-washed from an early age, that they actually are proud of the abuse they’re suffering in this country! After all they constantly hear they’re “no. 1″. What they generally don’t hear is that the US is “no. 1″ in the percentage of uninsured children etc. Even the ability to legally bribe politician here, called “campaign contributions”, is called “freedom of speech.” I guess corporations and rich people have much more “freedom of speech” than someone with a median income.

I have started reading Notes to Myself by Hugh Prather.
It is a book of paragraphs.

I find it hard to summerize this one. The book is more of a conversation with oneself. Slowly progressing and learning and basing ideas on the last. What I learn from it is moving through life with a balance of rational, feelings, and intuition. Living in the moment, accepting yourself, loving yourself, and forgiving yourself.

Things like…

If the desire to write is not accompanied by actual writing then the desire is not to write.

My trouble is I analyze life,
instead of live it.

Perfectionism is slow death. If everything were to turn out just like I would want it to, just like I would plan for to, then i would never experience anything new; my life would be an endless repetition of stale successes. When I make a mistake I experience something unexpected.

I sometimes react to making a mistake as if I have betrayed myself. My fear of making a mistake seems to be based on the hidden assumption that I am potentially perfect and that if I can just be very careful I will not fall from heaven. But a “mistake” is a declaration of the way I am, a jolt to the way I intend, a reminder I am not dealing with the facts. When I have listened to my mistake I have grown.

I have a dream. A dream of being a famous artist. or some such equivalent.
I imagine having a love affair with some other famous artist.
I always have that dream in my head.
I am in la-la-land. Being famous and awesome, romancing with a famous and awesome artist.
But I am neither famous nor that awesome. I barely do “art”.
I am always sad about that.
I don’t live in europe on a sailboat. I don’t escape consensual reality.
I am “trapped” by money.
I believe, very strongly that a strong grasp of money, and how it works, is the antithesis of creativity(?). or being wild(?).
I remember being wild(?) or do I remember wanting to be wild?
Thinking, no believing that total kaos was just around the corner.
am I “better” now? is being “happy” what I want or need?
does touching consensual reality keep you boring? err, normal.

I jump across the room.
The man on the phone is pestering me for knowledge. I am half listening, I am still asleep, I am looking out the window, I scribble down a note or two and tell him I will call back later.

I’m up. This is great. I bet I only slept till 11 today. Still got some left, I can really do some good stuff, yeah!!!
wait… WOW it’s only 9:15am!! Who calls at 9:15!!! Now I really do have my whole day!! Great, let me check out my list I made last night, ok here we go

I’m listening to Nirvana Nevermind in the Car while I wait the 18 minutes. Reminds me of Nicole my first love. Sitting the basement bedroom, smelling incense, and hanging out with a girl who dreamed of the stars but wouldn’t pick up the guitar to practice. Ahhhhh no ones perfect. My chest feels tight with longing and sadness, I start to enjoy it, I catch myself. I wish for closure. I know it doesn’t really matter. I can have my own closure. I wonder if Sara wants to hear about this, I don’t really care.

I try and talk Sam the handyman into selling his property in east bumfuk that is doing nothing with no one in it.
